Developing a predictive system using relevant observations to address natural hazards in Coastal West Africa and Cape Verde

Dr. Gregory Jenkins

Howard University

Growing populations in coastal West Africa and Cape Verde face natural hazard that pose significant health risk to the overall population. The hazards including: Flooding, Saharan dust and tropical cyclones impacting food security, economic development and public health. I discuss each of these hazards and the possibility of using available observations and modeling tools to protect vulnerable populations.
