During the 4th Annual Confernce of the International Association for Mathematical Geology it is expected that there will be the option to participate in cultural and geological field excursions which will follow the following itinerary:
Thursday 8 October 1998:
Sarno and the surrounding areas: A visit to the areas devestated by the resent landslides (March 1998) were it is possible to observe the effects of rapid flow phenomenon. For logistical reasons we can only accept 20 pepole (so book soon).
The Island of Ischia (morning) and a tour of Naples and its subsurface (afternoon).
Friday 9 October 1998:
Vesuvius (volcano) and Pompei (Archeological site).
Phlegraean Fields and Pompei (Archeological site).
The cost per person will vary depending upon the number of participants. It is expected that the field trips will cost between L. 85.000 and L. 100.000, this includes transport to and from Confernce center, enterance fees (Vesuvious, Naples and Pampei) and pick-nick lunch.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could comunicate your intentions as soon as possibal to Giuseppe Nardi ( e-mail: nardi@unina.it ) so that organisation plans can be made. The excursions are open (there presents will be greatly recived) to all visitors (wifes or friends).
