7th Annual Environmental Chemistry Symposium
Poster Presentation Guidelines
Poster size: The posters must be mounted on the exhibit boards provided (the same boards that are used for the College of Agricultural Sciences Graduate and Undergraduate Research Exhibition). The maximum area available is 42 inches wide and 46 inches high. Please bring tacks to mount your poster.

Time: Posters must be mounted between 2:30pm and 3 p.m. on Friday, March 19th, 2004 in the lobby of ASI. We will provide you with detailed instructions to the location of your poster at a later stage. The posters have to be taken down after the award ceremony on Saturday, March 20th.

Audience: Posters should be prepared to reach an interdisciplinary scientific audience. You may assume the audience has basic scientific knowledge, but do not assume the audience is intimately familiar with your specific field or jargon commonly used in your field. Therefore, you should either avoid that jargon or define and explain acronyms, terms, and concepts.

Judging: Judges will be using judging sheets to evaluate your presentation. Please familiarize yourself with this sheet and design your presentation accordingly. Judging guidelines are found here.

General: Try to keep it simple!

Avoid overcrowding the poster with too much information. Use and include only information that serves to support and clarify your main message.

Avoid long sections of text (bulleted points are easier to read than long paragraphs). Keep graphs simple and make sure they are quick to understand.

The font of your text should be large enough to read from at least 5 feet away. We recommend that font size be 24 pt or larger.
